The 2025 NFL season officially ended on February 8th with the Seattle Seahawks beating the New England Patriots 29-13 to secure their 2nd Lombardi in franchise history. Seattle delivered a decisive, defense‑driven victory, stifling New England’s offense and controlling the game from start to finish.
Running back Kenneth Walker III powered the Seahawks’ offense with 161 total yards, earning him Super Bowl MVP honors, making him the first running back to claim the award since 1998. Kicker Jason Myers also set a super bowl record with 5 field goals made and set a single season record in most points scored with 202 points. Quarterback Sam Darnold who completed a remarkable career-comeback, threw for 202 yards and a touchdown without committing a turnover.
Offensive player of the year Jaxon-Smith Njigba, also known as the Emerald City Route Artist, was largely a non-factor in this game. Sam Darnold missed him on two deep shots that could have been touchdowns, and he also left the game for a quarter due to concussion protocol.
However, the standout of the game was Seattle’s defense. They forced 3 turnovers and sacked Drake Maye 6 times, with their big play being a pick six late in the game. Through the first 3 quarters, the Patriots were held to zero points and only scored points when the outcome was largely decided.
For Seattle, the win was redemption for their heartbreaking loss against New England in Super Bowl XLIX. This time Seattle was able to hold the trophy and make all their fans proud.
