With over a million LED lights, Disney’s Paint the Night Electrical Parade returns for Disneyland’s 70th anniversary celebration. After years of anticipation, Disney’s beloved, high-energy parade is back and is something you won’t want to miss on your next trip to the “Happiest Place on Earth.” The electrical parade runs from “it’s a small world” to Main Street and features sparkling lights, vibrant floats, and a soundtrack that shines with Disney magic.
Originally introduced in 2015 during Disneyland’s 60th anniversary Diamond Celebration, Paint the Night took a spin on the classic Main Street Electrical Parade. With a little bit of fairy dust, the 70th anniversary version takes things to a whole new level of Disney standard. The parade features updated, advanced technology, the return of the Frozen float, and magical effects that truly make the streets of Disneyland enchanted after dark.
Each float glows with personality, from Tinker Bell and Peter Pan soaring high above, to the energetic appearances of puppets: Tigger, Genie, and Lumiere who light up the route. Pixar fans will be delighted to see Mike and Sulley from Monsters, Inc., who are featured with five animated doors with LED video panels, leading the way before Mack and Lightning McQueen roll in from Cars. Toy Story favorites, Slinky Dog, with 10 spinning disks rotating at 120 rpm, Buzz, Woody, and Jessie follow close behind. The classic Disney princesses bring a touch of sparkle and grace, with Belle’s iconic yellow gown adorned with the most decorative lighting caps of any float in Paint the Night, Rapunzel’s glowing lanterns, Cinderella’s classic ballgown look, and Ariel featured on an “Under the Sea” float with her fishy friends.
It would only be right that Sorcerer Mickey Mouse stars in the grand finale along with his pals, ending the parade and perfectly encapsulating the feeling of a day well spent in the parks.
As Disneyland celebrates seven decades of imagination, magic, and wonder, Paint the Night stands as the energetic tribute to the park’s legacy of “If you can dream it, you can do it,” perfectly stated by Walt Disney himself. Whether it’s your first time seeing the parade or you’ve watched it countless times before, one thing’s for sure, this parade will electrify your night and heart.
