2025 has been a big year and cinema, and the month of October has shown to be no exception. Two of the most anticipated releases have hit theaters from two very different genres. “Regretting You” a contemporary romance based on Colleen Hoover’s bestselling novel starring McKenna Grace and Mason Thames was first shown on October 24th of 2025. This movie follows a teenage girl named Clara as she navigates her father’s death. Audiences reported that they went through a rollercoaster of emotions when watching this movie. It has received very positive feedback, with an 86% audience score on rotten tomatoes. A couple of days before this movie was released, “Black Phone 2” a horror sequel to “Black Phone” starring Mason Thames and Ethan Hawke was released October 17th of this year. The first movie followed a young 13-year-old boy named Finney who is another young victim of “The Grabber” who is the cause of multiple kids’ disappearance in his hometown. While trapped in a basement, he communicates with the spirits of children who have gone through the same experience as him in the past. “Black Phone 2” will follow young Finney’s trauma from past events and the return of “The Grabber” in supernatural form. In addition to these movie releases, it should also prove to be an exciting month for theaters “Wicked: For Good” starring Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande set to release on November the 21st. In addition to this, “Zootopia 2” the beloved sequel to “Zootopia” will be released less than a week after this on November 26th. If one thing is clear, it’s that 2025 is the year of sequels.
