Temperatures in Orange County are projected to cool down as the 2024 Fall Equinox approaches.
The Fall Equinox, which marks the end of summer and the start of autumn for the Northern Hemisphere, will be occurring early in the morning on Sep. 22 this year.
Throughout the following months, projections indicate that the average monthly temperature will steadily decline, with the projected high average in November being 75°F, a drop from the high projected average of 82°F in October and the previous average of 89°F in September.
As fall comes around, so does the chance for rain. Predictions estimate a possible 1.55 cm in rainfall in October, 2.11 cm in November, and 5.89 cm in December.
This comes after a particularly dry summer in Orange County, with less than a single centimeter of precipitation across June, July, and August all together.
California’s summer heat this year set numerous records, including the hottest summer in California on record, and the 4th hottest summer in the nation. Long Beach set a new daily record after temperatures there reached 109°F early this September.
As fall begins and the summer heat dies down, the decrease in temperature will begin to be felt within the coming months.
