    SNL Returns

Will the new season with new hosts be just as good as before?

Saturday Night Live is officially underway for their 49th season. SNL is the sketch comedy and variety television series that has aired on Saturday nights since 1975, making it one of the longest-running shows. The new season is set to have Pete Davidson and Ice Spice hosting the opening premiere and a new cast member has recently been unveiled.

Chloe Troast is the new member and sole addition to the SNL cast. She has been in series including The Basics, Please Don’t Destroy, and Sweethearts. She was born in New Jersey, attended NYU and did improve, stand up and sketch comedy. Her quick rise to fame landed her the role in the new season of SNL.

Pete Davidson hosting the first episode became a great tribute to his time on the show. He was on the show for a total of eight seasons from 2014 to 2022. Many of the actors left due to the pandemic but the news of eight total cast members leaving was historic. So many cast members haven’t left the show since 1995, and this made production difficult. This is why Chloe Troast joined the cast.

Pete’s appearance on the show concluded there were no hard feelings with his leaving. Him hosting with Ice Spice also caused uproar from fans who were excited to see their favorite singer on stage.

From what fans of SNL can see, this Emmy-winning 49 season show isn’t stopping anytime soon. It is most likely to lean heavily on non-acting hosts and focus more on special guests such as musicians, athlete’s and prominent figures. Bad Bunny hosted the latest episode while also being the musical guest giving us insight into the lack of actors behind the scenes.

In the future, fans can prepare for Nate Bargatze making his hosting debut and musical specials such as the Foo Fighters.
