“I decided to join acro because I really loved performing and learning new skills. When I first started acro, the intent was never to compete but when our coach decided to make a competitive team I was the first to join. This year will be my 9th year of doing acro and my 6th year competing acro.

My favorite aspect of acro would be the friendships I’ve made with my partners and competitors. I can honestly say that my partners, Ellie and Emma are my best friends and the sisters I never had, I think they will be life long friends of mine. Along with my partners I’ve make great relationships with my competitors. Because acro is such a small sport we encourage each other to do our best especially when we are competing together on the US national team.

When my trio made National team for the first time back in December we were shocked. We were only going to the selection camp to gain experience, so we could possible make the team in the future but we never thought we would actually be selected on a spot for the team. We were so proud that all our hard work had finally paid off.

I feel like the trust we have in each other contributes the most to our success. Acro is unique because unlike gymnastics we compete our routines and skills together. We have to work as a unit for the routine to come together and we have to trust that we will all do our part to make our skills work.

Acro has influenced my life in so many ways. I have had the opportunity to compete in Wisconsin, North Carolina, Iowa, Missouri, Belgium and this November I am going to compete at the Pan American Championship in Mexico. It has been amazing to travel to all these places that I never would have been if it hadn’t been for acro. “
