Hi, I’m Alyssa Barrera Sosbee, a sophomore (Class of 2028) at Santa Margarita Catholic High School. I spend time volunteering at various places, but my favorite is Lazy W Christian Camp, where I’ve learned how meaningful it is to simply show up for others. I also love drawing, reading, and spending time with my loved ones and friends. This year, I’m working hard to reach a 4.3 GPA and grow both academically and athletically so I can become the best version of myself while continuing to work toward success. One of my former teammates, Julia Povich, taught me something I’ll never forget: be kind to others even when they are not kind to you, and don’t worry too much about what others think of you because everyone is thinking of themselves. I don’t need to be the loudest in the room or have all the answers; what matters most to me is showing up for the people I love, leading with kindness, and making sure the people around me feel seen and supported. I believe actions always speak louder than words.
