When Lana Del Rey announced that she would be switching genres from alternative to country, the internet went up in flames. The news spread quickly across social media platforms, causing a buzz among music enthusiasts and her dedicated followers. At first, her fan base was very excited to listen to Del Rey explore a new genre, and anticipate potential features and themes that she might dive into, but those initial feelings of excitement have transformed into confusion when during the month it was set to release, they have received close to no new information.
Previously, Del Rey announced that her album “Lasso” was set to come out in September, but she has not said much else. When September rolled around and things were still quiet, listeners started speculating if it would still be coming out. On social media apps like Tik Tok and Instagram, fans have been making jokes about Del Rey seemingly leading them on and even have gone as far as to say they cannot trust her to follow through on release dates due to similar events occurring in the past.
Other fans take a more protective stance, saying that people online have been spreading misinformation. They argue that rumors have been circulating, leading to unnecessary disappointment among the fan base. Even though her fans may not be getting Lasso this year, during Del Rey’s Vogue Interview in August, she announced that she would be releasing two new songs by the end of the year in addition to her new song with Quavo, “Tough”.
Furthermore, Del Rey is set to be performing at stagecoach in 2025 alongside other popular artists like Zach Bryan, Luke Combs, The Backstreet Boys, and Jelly Roll. So, while the world may not be getting Lasso until 2025, her fan base still has a lot to look forward to.
