A television show featuring two trauma-ridden brothers who reunite in order to find their missing father, has captivated millions of fans worldwide, with 15 seasons in total, airing from 2005 to 2020. Elder brother, Dean Winchester, and younger brother, Sam Winchester, follow their dad across the country throughout their youth, chasing the supernatural. What made their father, John Winchester, start this hunt, was his need to find the demon that killed Sam and Dean’s mother just 6 months after Sam’s birth.
There are so many plot twists, discoveries, and traps that Sam and Dean encounter throughout their journey together, starting in the search for their missing father and ending in their confrontation of God himself. Whether bringing each other back to life time and time again, making deals with the supernatural, repeatedly stopping the apocalypse, or just going on silly adventures, Sam and Dean portray an unbreakable brotherly bond that the audience can only sympathize with. Their fights and anger toward one another at times reflect a true sibling bond, as in the end, they love each other no matter what happened in the past.
Throughout the TV show, the relationships they make and the people they meet make them who they are. Bobby Singer, a man who I consider to be their true father, cares for them like no other. Castiel, an angel who came to Earth from heaven, becomes their lifelong friend. Charlie Bradbury, a computer hacker, becomes a hunter with Sam and Dean for a large part of the show. There are a number of others including Kevin, Ruby, Crowley, Chuck, Meg, and Jack that make the show, and the Winchester brothers who they are in the end.
Hunting the supernatural is not what makes the show the famous series it is today, it’s the lessons of friendship, resilience, confidence in family, and skill to take the good out of bad situations.
