“Ever since I began surfing eight years ago, I have grown to love the sport. I decided to join the SM surf team because I wanted to participate in competitions, the community, and meet new friends. However, I kept injuring myself from surfing by getting a concussion and breaking my ankle. My Dad is the one who got me into surfing by teaching me. Surfing is now a family tradition where everyone surfs, including my twin brother, younger sister, and Mom. My favorite beach to surf at is San Onofre because there are fewer people. Being in the water with the movement of the currents makes me feel relaxed and happy, especially when I surf at sunset. Surfing is like a rush of adrenaline for me and has always been my escape from the rest of the world where I can feel peace at home.”
