“I am a Speak UP! ambassador because I like it when people talk to me about their problems even if it is something really simple. The more you talk about mental health the more it gets normalized and prevents bad things from happening to students who are struggling. Since 7th grade, I have been a volunteer for Lion’s Heart and have gotten a hundred hours every year. I also spend my free time making dog toys, making mats for people in hospital care, volunteering at St. Kilian Church during a Christian summer camp by working with kids, volunteering at Camp Pendleton by watching elders kids who are in retirement homes so that they do not feel lonely during the holidays, and I volunteered for a charity event at the Newport Beach Country Club. I enjoy volunteering because I get to participate in a variety of activities and meet different kinds of people.”
