“Piano has been with me a long time since I was 4 years old. I started playing piano because I found the black and white keys particularly interesting. I still remember the first time I participated in a competition when I was 5 years old. It is an unusual memory in my life. The night before the competition I couldn’t sleep maybe because of nerves. I remember the moment I walked from behind the stage to the front. I sat down and played the pieces. My first feeling was that practicing piano at home is very different than playing it on stage. I found a sense of happiness playing on stage. When I play piano I am immersed in beautiful music. I am used to communicating with music, to be honest is a process of communicating with myself.”

Zheng has taken her passion of playing the piano to play in numerous competitions. In 2017, she won 1st place at the Macao-Asia Pacific Youth Competition. “Music is where my dreams start,” said Zheng. “My dream is go to a big stage to perform and have a concert.”
