“When I was a toddler I went down to the beach with my grandpa and he was taking pictures of the sunset and I was like ‘I wanna try! I wanna try!’ and finally he let me do it. I took a picture of the sunset and its hanging in my room today. I loved photography for years and then I realized in fourth grade when I made my first film with my friends I was like ‘hey you can use video, that’s kind of cool!’
Then I started taking film classes at Santa Margarita my freshman year and now I’m going to NYU Film School.
[Film classes at SM] taught me everything I know basically. All I knew was how to press record and then I learned there’s different camera angles and there’s a process to it. I got to work with all my friends with different projects and it was fun and I learned a lot.
The film classes at SM, you get out of it what you put into it. So I put in a lot of effort and I took it really seriously and did all of the work.
I’m looking forward to all the projects we get to do and meeting all my new classmates and being a part of lectures with big-name people in the film industry and really getting to be a part of the arts community in New York.
