All the way to Colorado

On Friday September 6, the Varsity Song team set off on a trip to Cherry Creek High School in Greenwood Village, Colorado. The team traveled, along with the Varsity Football team, to cheer on the eagles and to perform at quarter breaks and halftime with the Cherry Creek Poms team. The year before, the Cherry Creek Poms team had traveled to California to perform with Song through Varsity’s Pass the Pom program.

“SM Varsity Song has become very close with the Cherry Creek team. We always support each other when we go to nationals in Florida, and we have been lucky enough to perform halftime routines with them for the past two years at each other’s schools,” said Senior Lauren Polusky.

Both teams performed material that they learned at UDA camp, a nationwide camp that qualifies teams for UDA Nationals. Both teams have supported each other at Nationals, both placing in the top 2 in the varsity pom category.

The team also found this trip to be a bonding experience not only with their own team, but also with the Cherry Creek Poms team.

“My favorite part about the Cherry Creek trip was getting to hang out with another song team and bonding over fun things! It was such a cool experience to be apart of something so special,” said Junior Olivia Orsini.

With competition season still ahead of them, the Varsity Song team looks forward to taking another trip, but this time, to Orlando, Florida to defend their title as Small Varsity Pom National Champions. Lets wish these girls good luck!
