Support ASB’s efforts to bring in the money and benefit SMCHS students.

A very happy Carolyn Bien promoting the new discount cards.

As the esteemed singer and songwriter Jessie J proudly sings, “It’s not about the money, money, money. We don’t need your money money money. We just want to make the world dance, forget about the price tag.”

But SMCHS’s Associated Student Body would indeed claim the exact opposite: it is about the money.

As ASB is in the midst of planning the “oh-so-chic” winter formal, surreal pep rallies and many other amazing events, they are also at the peak of fundraiser season.

Though we all wish money could grow on trees, it clearly does not. So to pay for these outrageously awesome events on campus, ASB is hit with the reality that only hard work will lead to the money.

Listen up, because if you want to keep having amazing rallies with Lakers Girls and dances with Dippin’ Dots, you might want to consider participating in one of the many fundraisers ASB is putting on.

“So far, the sophomore class fundraiser has been a phenomenal success,” said sophomore class president Justin Wittekind. “When it comes to acquiring serious amounts of cash we set the bar high.”

This fundraiser entails of selling “Illeagle” shirts at the prime Friday night basketball games. This apparel is perfect to wear to all the upcoming games and even better, they’re only $10!

“These long sleeve t-shirts embody everything it means to be an Eagle,” Wittekind said.

The juniors are in need of a little love, too. To support their fundraiser, chaired by junior class president Tanner Strauss, send a little note and lollipop to your cutie this Valentine’s Day.

“We’re doing Valentine grams a week or two before Valentine’s Day,” Strauss said. ” We will be selling lollipops and sweetheart candies at lunchtime as either a gram or just as a purchase.”

C’mon, what’s a better way to your lover’s heart than through a little bit of sweet candy to show them you care?

“If it’s a gram the student will fill it out and it will be delivered to the recipient on Valentine’s Day,” Strauss said. “They will be sold at both lunches right next to the kiosks.”

And now cue drum roll please, as I save (literally save) one of the best ideas ASB has ever come up with for last.

Hint: it entails discounts on half of Rancho Santa Margarita and Ladera Ranch’s hottest restaurants and hangout spots.

Here you have it folks: a discount card that could save you ideal amounts of money on all your go-to places around town. Who wouldn’t want to save money while eating?

“These discount cards can be bought in activities and at basketball games,” said senior class council member Hailey Bayliss. “These cards will save you money towards places like Wing Stop, Juice it Up, Pizza Hut, Los Primos, In’n’Out, and lots more.”

I can already smell those famous Los Primos breakfast burritos that dozens of SMCHS students go to pick up on a late start. An amazing discount will make them taste even better.

“They are really great and only $10,” Bayliss said. “This money will go towards the senior class to purchase a gift for the school and that all the student body can benefit from.”

ASB students are working hard to raise money to benefit all of us at SMCHS, so any and all participation in their fundraisers would help!
