On September 7, 2025, the MTV Video Music Awards show was held at the UBS Arena in Elmont, New York. This annual music show has been held since 1984. This year, there were over 5.5 million viewers.
At this year’s award show, there was a wide variety of performers and hundreds of artists from around the nation. Many different looks from these artists were seen as they walked down the red carpet.
Doja Cat was the first to perform at this year’s VMAs, with her song “Jealous Type.” Doja Cat later won Best K-Pop Video of 2025 for her song “Born Again,” which was her sixth VMA.
Alex Warren was the first to win an award at the 2025 VMAs. He won the award of Best New Artist. He has gained around 15 million listeners in the span of only one year.
Many other performers took the stage throughout the night, such as Sabrina Carpenter, Lady Gaga, Mariah Carey, Alex Warren, Tate McRae, and Sombr. Lady Gaga’s performance was actually a pre-tapped performance from Madison Square Garden.
Before his performance, artist Sombr was awarded his first VMA for Best Alternative for his song “Back to Friends.” This up-and-coming artist first started releasing music in 2021, and now has over 56 million monthly listeners on spotify. He later performed his song “12 to 12.”
Sabrina Carpenter, who just released her seventh album, also had an amazing performance. She performed her new song “Tears.” Sabrina won three awards throughout the night, which were for Best Pop Artist, Best Album, and Best Visual Effects.
Overall, the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards was an event to remember. From fashion statements dow the red carpet to the many talented performers, it was one for the books.
