Bestselling coming of age romance author Jenny Han is known for screen adaptations to her books To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before and The Summer I Turned Pretty. Back in 2023, she surprised her fans by taking one of the most beloved characters from the To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before franchise, Kitty, and making her very own show for the character. Although Han’s target audience may be teenagers, that does not stop all different age groups from watching and loving what she puts out.
For starters, her first book published, The Summer I Turned Pretty, was adapted into a TV series back in June of 2022 and it took the internet by storm. This story follows Belly, a teenage girl who goes to her mom’s best friend Susanna’s beach house every summer and spends two months with Susanna’s sons Conrad and Jeremiah. Belly has always had a crush on Conrad and thinks this could be the summer when he finally notices her, but these plans get complicated when her childhood best friend Jeremiah comes into the picture. This is a three-book trilogy, with the following books being It’s Not Summer Without You and We’ll Always Have This Summer. Season 3 is set to release this summer 2025.
Next up, To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before is a three-book trilogy / movie series that follows Lara Jean Covey who writes letters to all the boys she has every liked, but instead of giving them out, she keeps them hidden in her closet until her little sister Kitty finds them which ends with the boys getting their assigned letters.
After this movie series, we follow Lara Jean’s sister Kitty into her own TV series, XO Kitty. To find out more about her dead mother, Kitty Song Covey goes to Seoul, Korea and attends the high school her mom went to, KISS, where her online boyfriend goes. While Kitty is there, she not only finds out about her mom, but herself in the process.
Jenny Han’s books can be found at Barnes and Nobles and her adaptations can be found on Netflix and Amazon Prime. Happy watching!
