Staying Healthy During Quarantine

Tips and ideas for how to get active during your time at home.

Gyms and fields being closed down can be very frustrating for athletes, but it doesn’t mean we can’t all stay in shape. We all have more time than ever to set and achieve our fitness goals, whatever they may be. This time can be used however you want, that’s the beauty of it!

Though social media would like us to think otherwise, staying healthy during COVID19 doesn’t have one definition or look the same for every person, listen to your mind and your body, and figure out what is best for you!

Find a routine that works for you:

It can be overwhelming how much free time we all have, but if you think about your fitness goals and how to achieve them, it can be much more manageable to plan your time. Set aside an hour, or even thirty minutes a day to exercise, anything is better than nothing!

Get creative:

Without gyms, it can be hard to replicate our normal workout routines. There are countless at-home workouts online that don’t require any equipment or provide alternatives that most people would have in their house. Now is the perfect opportunity to explore those trails near your house you’ve always wanted to try but haven’t had time!

Focus on healthy and mindful eating:

During the regular school year, it can be hard to find the time to have balanced meals, but now you can! Look online for healthy recipes, cooking healthy meals is a great use of time if you are feeling bored or like you have nothing to do! Another key to staying healthy during this time is staying hydrated, it can be easy to forget since you aren’t carrying a hydro flask around as you would during school, but be mindful of how much water you are drinking, your body needs it!

Listen to your body:

It is okay to take a rest day! Meditation and reflection can be just as effective to your overall health and working out and running can be. If you are feeling sore or tired, try out an online yoga or stretching class. You know your body better than anyone so if you feel like you need a break, take one!
