Three cheers for Trio

With the upcoming Trio app comes the ease of streaming a multitude of media to your fingertips.

With Pinterest, pictures are streamed and organized into displays. On Tumblr, people share original and reused content in their public profiles.

However, the recently established Trio app is a combination of the two formats of social media. Trio assists teens and adults in compiling gifs, movie clips and other people’s social media to stream online, combining the streamed pictures featured on Pinterest and the repeated re-blogging of content featured on Tumblr.

After an extensive trip to 70 countries over the course of seven years, Misha Leybovich, current CEO of Trio, recognized that there aren’t enough resources in other applications to mashup all the media he had accumulated from his years of travel. He wanted to be able to upload and share the many videos and media from his adventures, but none of the current applications fit what he wanted.

“I was always looking for interesting stuff to do with my media because I thought photo albums were really boring and I wasn’t skilled enough to make a professional video,” Leybovich said. “I persistently experimented with combining all of it together. Eventually, it turned into a company that continued getting better at creating ideas and turned into what we have today.”

By making a Trio account, users can mash-up media from other applications such as Vine or Instagram, along with their own original videos, gifs and pictures. After creating their mix, other additions like text and music of their choice can be included at the touch of a finger.

“What people don’t have the ability to do now is to create video content easily,” Leybovich said. “If you’re online you can make videos there, but it’s pretty difficult to make a good video. You need to consider good lighting, not too much sound and, most importantly, you have to have a good idea.”

Leybovich was frustrated with the obstacles he faced in trying to create a space to share and create. Recording high quality videos came with headaches, mixing up different mediums of art came with restrictions, and nothing was easily accessible. What he wanted was a place that was easy to upload his media, as well as others, and create something unique.

Trio, an app that has been three years in the making, makes everything simple. Whether on the couch relaxing or on a trip across the country, users can partake in Trio on their smartphones. The easy creation of media-mashups and availability of the app gives consumers the freedom to form blogs or to simply repost a comical video they saw on Vine.

Trio is exactly how Leybovich envisioned simplicity in the media world. In addition to being a place to easily stream your media, Trio also allows its users the opportunity to interact with one another on a more personal level, aside from liking or reblogging something.

Using one of the app’s many features, people can challenge their followers to post a Trio according to a specific theme chosen by them. For example, a person can create their own challenge and title it: “Funny situations with parents”. Once this Trio challenge is shared with friends, they can all post and compare each other’s clips using mixed media that has to do with comedic clips of parents.

Already, Trio has received five star ratings and consistency in user satisfaction, especially in the realm of teens. Trio’s simplicity and user-friendly qualities has made the app a success, but Leybovich wants to introduce the app to more individuals. He wants to get the word out about Trio, and especially to a certain group of people.

“There’s not really anything out there to express how creative and clever and funny you are, and Trio does that,” Leybovich said. “We’re hoping that Trio can fill that need that high school students look for when downloading a social media app.”

And the company behind Trio isn’t afraid of criticism.

“We want to hear all the complaints, suggestions and ideas that you have because the more feedback we can get, the quicker we can make the app better for you,” Leybovich said.

The Trio app allows for constant liking or disliking of other people’s posts, while also allowing people to follow other users and share mashups. There are many options for personalizing accounts and making it a decorated blog, along with developing a profile. Trio has created a continuous flow of media to the public, unlike any other app before it.

“Trio definitely has the capability to be the next big thing because it’s a mix of past apps along with a lot more unique features,” Leybovich said.

Aside from being able to establish their own blog, teens can stay entertained by watching content made by other creators using the app. So, for travelers and potato couches alike, the Trio app is the new and improved way to document the day.
